![]() The short of it is that you get the same video quality of a GoPro 10 at a third of the weight – and at the same price! You don’t get the dual LCD screens or waterproofing, but the weight savings more than make up for it. Called the Hero10 Black “Bones,” I was lucky enough to get an early production unit from GoPro for review. That said, I would be more interested in GoPro going UP in size and capability than down in a solution like Insta360Go2.A brand new camera for FPV Drones from GoPro is about to hit the market. You can use it, there is some crossover, but neither perfectly addresses the other.īones is all about giving FPV users a turn-key Hero10 5k experience in an optimized solution, and I don't think there's conflict between it and something more purposeful like a tiny camera that literally anyone can use. GoPro just formalized a bunch of stuff people were doing DIY, addressed some things they could cover when doing so (better thermal solution), and then bundled it all with their latest iteration of their stabilization software, which is something someone in this space would want anyway.īones isn't for the everyday user in the same way an i360G2 isn't particularly ideal for FPV. Pretty notably, Bones ISN'T an entirely new camera development. I think GoPro saw that as an opportunity to serve a community that honestly produces some of the best UGC content out there in the GoPro user-verse, and to do so without completely reinventing the Hero10 for this application. Bones seems to have been made by observing that FPV users were buying Hero10s, stripping them down and throwing away the "husk", and then running them naked and unprotected. I don't think bones and something like an i360G2 would be mutually exclusive. ReelSteady is also available separately for $99.99.īut if they were working on that, why bother releasing the Bones now? It is available starting today in the United States at for $399.99 with an included one-year GoPro Subscription or $499.99 without a subscription. HERO10 Black Bones comes ready to set up, and ships with a ReelSteady license included. ![]()
